Skin of molten gold, eyes of pure diamond, more valuable then life itself, Beauty beyond eyes sight cannot be Witnessed anywhere else. A love like this cannot be put into words. A Love so deep that it hurts. A love so passionate its hot. It overtakes us, starting at the very base, the soles of our shoes and climbs slowly up past our calfs, past our knees, Faster and faster until we are surrounded by its whirling, swirling faster and faster surrounded by the love of each other. It ventures up, up into our stomachs and reaches deep into our body and draws forth each soul bringing them together side by side, a pulsing purple ball of energy from each of us. then for one solid minute silence. And then.. ever so slowly they shutter, vibrate… and clash into each other becoming one intense deep blood red ball of energy. And then as fast as it came it vanishes into thin air always there but invisible to the human eye.

Reply:Have you ever heard of the song called I%26#039;m sprung..I beleive a character named T-pain sUng it...eh
Reply:its pretty good, the only change i would make is the repetative words, it seems like u kinda keep repeating urself and the more times something gets repeated the less intresting it becomes. i thikn that if u can figure out how to use something diffrent than faster and faster, and side by side, it ventures up, up...i like%26quot;it ventures up%26quot;, but maybe u can change the next part to %26quot;higher into our stomachs.and %26quot;then for one solid minute silence,And then%26quot;...if u could change%26quot;And then%26quot;to something else it would sound alot better. u actually use %26quot;and then%26quot;3 times...poemss like this sound so much bettter if things are not repeated more than once. but i thik if u change the repetative words then it will be perfect,. the rest sounds beautiful!!
Reply:That%26#039;s a good poem! Did you write it?
Reply:Great poem!! When you can almost visualize and feel the emotions you really have something. Great writing!!

To kill a mockingbird question? please help?
Explain what jem and scout learn about themselves and the society in which they live. how do they learn? what do they learn... i have...
Atticus teaches Jem and Scout one the most valuable lessons they learn. That lesson is that “in order to understand someone, you have to get into their shoes and climb into their skin to understand them” Scout learned not to judge people based on appearances and first impressions. There are many instances where Scout has to climb into people’s skin to understand them. When Walter Cunningham comes to eat lunch at the Finch’s house, Atticus also teaches them that it is a sin to kill mockingbirds. It is wrong to kill them because “ all they do is make music”
i need how scout and jem learn about prejeuce and their society and how mrs. dubose and boo radley teach them too
To kill a mockingbird question? please help?
I%26#039;ve read the book just this year in my english class. Making fun of Boo Radley is like %26quot;killing a mockingbird%26quot; because he%26#039;s done nothing wrong, but is stuck inside his house because he%26#039;s afraid of all the rumors. Jem and Scout learn from Atticus many things about prejudice.

I will guide you only. I think you have made a great start, but I think you really need to look at the trial scenes (especially Atticus%26#039; impassioned speech for letting Tom go) as well as Bob Ewell%26#039;s basic attitudes (which the children witness).
Other valuable lessons you might consider that the kids learn (and I%26#039;m sure if you think about it, you can find them):
1) violence is not a good solution when one is faced with a challenging/potentially dangerous situation
2) Sometimes it%26#039;s best to leave well enough alone, rather than to create MORE problems.
Reply:Ok, think of Mrs.Dubose and why she said all that mean stuff about Atticus....that should give you your prejudice answer. And think about how people talk about boo and how everyone is afraid of him. If you cant answer how he and mrs dubose teach scout about racism....you really need to reread the book.
Reply:wow.... sorry to sound so negative but....READ THE BOOK!! its great....i think its one of the best books ive ever read. and, besides, homework q%26#039;s like that r just stupid.
Reply:My original post: It is clear that you did not read this book at all and you should be ashamed of yourself for coming on here taking the easy way out. If I were you teacher, I would give you an F on your homework!
Now, I know you did not read the book and this crap is do tomorrow isn%26#039;t? If you are planning to go to College or University, how the heck are you going to manage with these kind of study habits? Let this be a lesson to you to do the work early.

k. a main them in the book that ties with both saying is that you shouldn%26#039;t judge some one by the color of there skin. and first appearences can be decieving. also not every rumor is true. jem and scout grew up there scared of boo radly only end the end to have him save their lives and find out all he is is a man who likes to be left alone. they also grew up scared of miss dubose but when they found out the why she was they had to admire her for it. there was more to both those characters than meets the eye as there is in everyone one and prejudice is seeded in people not looking deep enough to get past the color of some one%26#039;s skin.

Red ants stings, reactions to them?
Those little monsters can enough hurt. Me and my friend were planting in the garden yesterday and we hit a nest of red ants. I saw them climbing on our shoes so we shaked them off. About ten seconds later she was screaming in agony, got her top off, we checked for ants in the top and they were all gone. I got bitten as well and apart from being stingy and itchy, I am fine. My friend got big red swellings that even today haven%26#039;t gone down much. This is from ants, tiny little things, I can%26#039;t believe the damage they can cause.
Anyone else bitten by these and what was your reaction to the stings?
Red ants stings, reactions to them?
my daughter had the same at the weekend (Scotland) the chemist gave her anti histamine and said they hadn%26#039;t seen this before but it was some kind of ant, they told her if it didn%26#039;t clear up to go to hospital, it was a clegg or gnat, they gave her antibiotics they told her it was an allergic reaction as she has a few serious allergies.
Reply:i am allergic to most ants and if i get bitten by more than just a few my throat swells, i turn red and soon i will die. i go to the hospital and get an adrenaline shot. its kind of fun. its very rare to be allergic to ants, but when you are, its deadly.
Reply:Ants are my favourite insects, but I%26#039;ve never been bitten by any.

Reply:I was bitten on my hand about 3 weeks ago by a red ant. It was on the knuckle of my pinky finger. It itched like a mosquito bite for about a day. Then my whole hand swelled twice it%26#039;s normal size. I had to go to the doctor to get a shot and anti-biotics. He also prescribed me a topical cream. I think I had an allergic reaction, so maybe not all people will be as bad as me. But ant bites shouldn%26#039;t be taken lightly. Yeah, they%26#039;re small. But they can hurt ya.
Reply:Plain Griddle Cakes (pancakes from scratch)
sift:
one cup flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
one-quarter teaspoon salt (not needed)
beat and add:
one egg (optional)
add:
1 cup milk (scant)
stir gradually to make smooth
add:
1 teaspoon melted butter or oil
cook in a hot frying pan, flip pancakes when they bubble, to brown the other side.
Serve with Vermont maple syrup.
These pancakes are sure to be tasty -- if you%26#039;re watching your sodium intake, you can make them without salt and baking powder, which also contains sodium (as does milk), and they%26#039;ll probably still be pretty good. We never add salt to anything, but when we omitted the baking powder the pancakes came out a little bit on the glue-ey side
Reply:i was bitten by ants in spain in may this year and my hands and body swelled up and a rash all over my body i had to go to hospital for an anti estermine injection and medication i was still on medication a month later i never had a reaction before but now i have to have anti estermine tablets with me to take straight away if i get bitten my advice tell her to go to doctors it can be very painfull i was in agony for at least ten days
Reply:I was bit by these when I lived in Florida. Nothing quite hurts like this. I put my knee down on the sand and that%26#039;s when I got zapped. Just thinking about it right now makes me cringe. The bites swelled up and I used ice to help take down the swelling. It took a few days for the pain to completely subside. Benadryl will help with the itching. Hope you and your friend are better soon.

Considering the following points, should it be Taj-Mahal or TEJO-MAHALAY?
The term Taj Mahal is a corrupt form of the Sanskrit term TejoMahalay signifying a Shiva Temple. Agreshwar Mahadev i.e., The Lord of Agra was consecrated in it.
The tradition of removing the shoes before climbing the marble platform originates from pre Shahjahan times when the Taj was a Shiva Temple. Had the Taj originated as a tomb, shoes need not have to be removed because shoes are a necessity in a cemetery.
Visitors may notice that the base slab of the cenotaph is the marble basement in plain white while its superstructure and the other three cenotaphs on the two floors are covered with inlaid creeper designs. This indicates that the marble pedestal of the Shiva idol is still in place and Mumtaz%26#039;s cenotaphs are fake.
The pitchers carved inside the upper border of the marble lattice plus those mounted on it number 108-a number sacred in Hindu Temple tradition.
There are persons who are connected with the repair and the maintenance of the Taj who have seen the ancient sacred Shiva Linga and other idols sealed in the thick walls and in chambers in the secret, sealed red stone stories below the marble basement. The Archaeological Survey of India is keeping discretely, politely and diplomatically silent about it to the point of dereliction of its own duty to probe into hidden historical evidence.
In India there are 12 Shiva Lingas i.e., the outstanding Shiva Temples. The Tejomahalaya alias ‘The Taj-Mahal’ appears to be one of them known as Nagnatheshwar since its parapet is girdled with Naga, i.e., Cobra figures.
The famous Hindu treatise on architecture titled Vishwakarma Vastushastra mentions the %26#039;Tej-Linga%26#039; amongst the Shivalingas i.e., the stone emblems of Lord Shiva, the Hindu deity. Such a Tej Linga was consecrated in the Taj Mahal, hence the term Taj Mahal alias Tejo Mahalaya.
Agra City, in which the Taj Mahal is located, is an ancient centre of Shiva worship. Its orthodox residents have through ages continued the tradition of worshipping at five Shiva shrines before taking the last meal every night especially during the month of Shravan. During the last few centuries the residents of Agra had to be content with worshipping at only four prominent Shiva temples viz., Balkeshwar, Prithvinath, Manakameshwar and Rajarajeshwar. They had lost track of the fifth Shiva deity, which their forefathers worshipped. Apparently the fifth was Agreshwar Mahadev Nagnatheshwar i.e., The Lord Great God of Agra, The Deity of the King of Cobras, consecrated in the Tejomahalay alias Taj-Mahal.
The people who dominate the Agra region are Jats. Their name of Shiva is Tejaji. The Jat special issue of The Illustrated Weekly of India (June 28,1971) mentions that the Jats have the Teja Mandirs i.e., Teja Temples. This is because Teja-Linga is among the several names of the Shiva Lingas. From this it is apparent that the Taj-Mahal is Tejo-Mahalaya, The Great Abode of Tej.
Considering the following points, should it be Taj-Mahal or TEJO-MAHALAY?

Prince Aurangzeb%26#039;s letter to his father, emperor Shahjahan, is recorded in at least three chronicles titled `Aadaab-e-Alamgiri%26#039;, `Yadgarnama%26#039;, and the `Muruqqa-i-Akbarabadi%26#039; (edited by Said Ahmed, Agra, 1931 page 43, footnote 2). In that letter Aurangzeb records in 1652 A.D itself that the several buildings in the fancied burial place of Mumtaz had seven storeys and were so old that they were all leaking, while the dome had developed a crack on the northern side. Aurangzeb, therefore, ordered immediate repairs to the buildings at his own expense while recommending to the emperor that more elaborate repair be carried out later. This is the proof that during Shahjahan%26#039;s reign itself that the Taj complex was so old as to need immediate repairs.

What's a good birthday present?
For my brother, a nice guy, who loves to go mountain climbing, snow shoeing, likes to read, and never watches tv?
What%26#039;s a good birthday present?
You didn%26#039;t include his age???
How about a basket full of related items to his likes..
tickets to travel to a special mountain climbing place he%26#039;s dreamed about, a good book to read on the plane.. A journal to write his thoughts in when he%26#039;s exploring to look back on in his older years.. a camera., a gift card to a sports supplies place that he%26#039;d like, gift certificate to a health spa, to pump up his muscles and strengthen his body for all those things he loves..
energy bars, bottled water/ sports drink. , Magazine subscription to a related field he likes.., a new jacket or sweater with gloves.
small supplies for his adventures.. and a photo of you.. the
nice sister!!!
Reply:Consider books on CD for when he relaxes as he is camped at night and a good %26quot;rugged%26quot; and compact CD player (with rechargeable batteries?). This way if it is too dark for him to read and relax he can still read through %26quot;listening%26quot;.
Hope this helps and best of luck in your search!
Reply:I usually go with something that I really like, so if they don%26#039;t want it, I will get it eventually.

Reply:you can buy him a good book...
you can buy for him a ticket in order to go to a travel...

you deside.......
Reply:Sounds like he needs a gift card to a sporting goods store.
Reply:My brother is the same way and I always struggle to what to buy for him with out spending a lot of money.
Pick one of the things he likes to do best and buy a book on the subject. For instance if he likes to rock climb buy him a book on that subject.
Sign and date the inside and write a note if you would like to make the gift more personal. If your brother is anything like mine he will just be touched you took the time to think of him.
If you are not comfortable with picking out the book, then a gift certificate to a book store could be a good bet.
Good luck to you.
Reply:a book to read
Reply:The newest book out on the best seller list, warm sweater, or
the old stand by a gift certificate, so he can buy whatever he would really like. A lot of people do not like the gift certificate, but I prefer it to wondering about sizes, styles, and colors...good luck
Reply:Pick out something that he enjoys? Does he %26quot;buy%26quot; books or borrow them? If buying is it then get him a gift card with a book to go along with it, or something from a store that has to do with the activitys that he is into.

Anyone from Jersey City, N.J. gone to PS School #15 in 1949 had "Crazy" Mrs. Dressel in 6th grade?
Looking for anyone who is approximately 69 years old now, that went to Public School 15 on Dwight Street in Jersey City, N.J. and was in the 6B Class of Mrs. Dressel, the alcoholic teacher who, took off her shoes, climbed up on her chair and then the desk, and swung the yardstick over her head and called us a %26quot;bunch of bums and hoodlums%26quot; and the boys that wore neckties to school was %26quot;a sissy%26quot;. Yes, this is true - everytime she came out of the cloakroom - as it was called then, she would nod off on her desk, she was (we didn%26#039;t understand it then) intoxicated. I have my reportcards with 2 yes - 2 marking periods without grades to prove to you what went on in that school at that time - When she stopped coming to school I asked around %26quot;what happened to Mrs. Dressel?%26quot; and was told she was %26quot;sent to Marlboro%26quot;. At that time I didn%26#039;t know what that meant. But the school didn%26#039;t see what the hell was going on in our class. We kids had a blast doing nothing everyday , but that finally wore off.
Anyone from Jersey City, N.J. gone to PS School #15 in 1949 had %26quot;Crazy%26quot; Mrs. Dressel in 6th grade?
Im too young to have been in your class, but sounds like a crazy experience!

Would you stay with this man if you were in my shoes?
I feel that my husband has no respect for me in the bedroom. He wont take the time to you know and there isnt any four play. This is what he does he just climbs on top of me and forces his penis inside of me and it hurts and pinches. I feel like a prostitiute. He doesnt kiss me all over or anything he is a minute man he rips threw my vagina. i tried talking to him going to a councelor and everything he tries to take his time on me when he knows i am going to leave then when he thinks i am going to stay he will practially rape me again. so i wont have let him make love to me very much and his friends are coming to me telling me that he is going to strip clubs he tells me its not true and that both different people telling me this stuff he said they are just tying to break us up but they knew personal stuff about me sexually. I feel so empty and sad. He gets mad at me cause i wont kiss him but he kisses rough and forceful. I feel like a vitum.
Would you stay with this man if you were in my shoes?
Tell him you are a woman not a whore and you will not be treated like one.... tell him if he doesn%26#039;t want to show you respect then you will find someone that will.... if he rapes you then have him arrested.... that is the only thing men like him understand.... maybe if he gets put in jail once he will be raped and then he will know what it feels like to be violated...
Reply:You should tell him that you feel like you are being raped and that he needs to gentle with you. If my husband couldn%26#039;t do that I couldn%26#039;t be with him. You shouldn%26#039;t have to feel that way.
Reply:thats tuff girl, im sorry. You already know what you need to do. you cant change him so unless you can accept the way things are (and never be happy) than you should leave him. im curious, did you have sex with him before you were married?
Reply:That is sexual abuse.
Leave him, you deserve much much better.
Reply:If my husband started acting like this all of a sudden, I would try and figure out what was wrong - it would be totally out of character. If things didn%26#039;t go back to normal after some period of time, I would have to ask myself if I was ok with him being this way, or if I needed to leave the relationship. This kind of stuff would certainly make me question things.
However, if the man has always been this way for as long as I%26#039;ve known him, then I guess the fact that I was married to him would pretty much mean that these things didn%26#039;t bother me that much.
Reply:he seems like he is selfish to me!just caring about his own needs!!
do you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody who only thinks of themselves?
if he doesn%26#039;t want to treat you like you want and they way he should,i%26#039;d leave him for good,no..don%26#039;t give in whenever he%26#039;s %26quot;nice%26quot;he should be nice all the time!
and he%26#039;s going to strip joints?hmmm,he%26#039;ll probably come home with VD!!
my advice?leave him!!
Reply:I would probably leave him if I were you. The only thing I would consider is hiring a dominatrix to come to the house and teach him how to treat a woman sexually and teach me how to dominate him and demand respect. If he didn%26#039;t agree to it, I would leave for sure.
As much as you love him now, you could easily love someone better in the future.
Reply:You didn%26#039;t notice this before about him.
Reply:you probably are a %26quot;victim%26quot; and need to get help in this matter
Reply:honey if i was you i would just leave him. no woman needs to be treated like a piece of crap in the bedroom. he is going to keep doing this. so just leave him because personally if your asking a question like this then you don%26#039;t love him and there is no reason to stay and have him keep doing this it can hurt you down the road.
Reply:Was he not like this prior to marriage? If not, what has changed. If so, why are you complaining now? If you%26#039;re not happy, you need to tell him what you need and that you will not be %26quot;raped%26quot; anymore, not one more time. If he is unwilling to go to therapy or do anything to change, then you need to decide how to proceed.
Reply:I would leave there is absolutley no intimacy in the relationship and i think that is really important when you are married and as far as the strip club thing..are there any reasons why his friends would want to break you guys up..im guessing no so i would believe them..he has problems and i wouldnt stand for that..bu t it is ultimatley your decision and make your decision be for you dont try to please anybody else do what you feel if you are fed up then leave
Reply:Yes, that%26#039;s definitely sexual abuse. I believe nobody deserves that kind of treatment... man or woman. Leave him!
Reply:The way you are being treated is insensitive and violent. I am sorry for you. You need to sit him down and tell him that you can no longer tolerate this type of behavior. He is hurting you and doesn%26#039;t seem to care. You need to have him understand that he has to take time and be gentle in order to get you to respond to him. He should not be discussing your private business with anyone but you. I think you should try to get him to go to a marriage counsellor with you so you can get some help with this issue. If he won%26#039;t listen and continues to abuse you (that is what it is), then you need to consider leaving. You are a victim of sexual abuse and brutality. He needs to learn to treat you with respect, gentleness and love if he expects you to stay with him. It is no wonder that you are feeling empty and sad; this is not the way someone who loves you should be treating you. If he won%26#039;t go for counselling, you go yourself and learn how to stand up for yourself and not allow anyone to treat you this way. You deserve so much better.
Reply:i would file for divorce and get a restraining order on him if i were you....you have NO reason to take this treatment at all!
Reply:Well dear, it sounds like he%26#039;s neither giving nor receiving.
You may want to start teaching him to Recieve. Light some candles. Put something soothing, like the ocean on the CD player.
Have him lie on his stomach and you give him a good, warm, loving massage. And that be the end of it. See if he%26#039;ll go to sleep. Do it right before it%26#039;s time to crash.
Repeat daily. Just him receiving. If he can tolerate it you can kiss and massage. The idea is for him to allow your touch.
Let him know his technique is no longer acceptable.
Go to SexInfo101, and Tantric Sex, learn a bit.
Consistently monitor your tone with him. Remain calm and placid. Breathe.
Eat nutritious meals, incorporate a good muti-vitamin into your diets, and get 8 hours sleep every night in a dark, quiet room.
Try renting a comedy a couple times a week. Pop some popcorn and have Movie Night. Laughter raises endorphin and seratonin levels. Help him with this.
You can upgrade to relationship-type movies or incorporate what you see in the comedies. Steve Martin, Father of The Bride. He doesn%26#039;t raise his voice, he%26#039;s tolerant, he loves his family.
And he%26#039;s hilaraious.
Cyrano deBergerac (spell check%26#039;s not gonna help that)...the way a man desires to have a woman....Ever After....a friendship and tender relationship. Put these things in his mind. I really think your man has, honestly, NO CLUE.
For whatever reason, he associates sex with violence. You have to teach him. He%26#039;s not going to %26quot;figure it out himself.%26quot;
See if you can find more information on receiving touch.
Part of it is going to be sensory. Part is going to be emotional. Be aware of when he finally does let down his guard and trust you to love him. I%26#039;d say this is something he greatly fears.
Once he can get past that, I think things may be better ....for you and your man.
Be consistent. Be calm. Breathe. Teach.
Reply:Can I ask a couple of questions before I answer your questions? How did you two get together and how long have you been together? Did you have sex before you were married? If so was it the same way or is this something different since you%26#039;ve been married? How old are both of you? Do you two talk at all?
Ok enough for the questions. From what you wrote I would say that he is a very controlling, demanding guy. He only cares about himself with little regard for you. You truly are a victim of abuse. If you don%26#039;t do something about it now it will only get worse with time. He may become verbally and physically abusive toward you. He needs professional help and if you don%26#039;t do something soon you may need a doctor. I guess I have one more question: do you love him?
I think that you should leave if he refuses counselling or to at least talk with you in a rational manner without losing his temper which is what I expect from your description of the situation. Run do not walk away now.
Reply:than maybe you should leave. but you know when my husband doesn%26#039;t want to have sex with me it makes me mad and if he didn%26#039;t want to kiss me than i would really be pissed. sounds like he doesn%26#039;t have a wife who respects him either. you have to be tentive to his needs as well as him to yours. you like it all nice and slow and he doesn%26#039;t so take turns and as far as him just sticking it in and it hurting because of no for play that is what lube is for so that it will just slide right in so no forplay needed. **** sometimes people just want to f*ck and not all that kissy kissy crap. but if you truely have a problem with this than leave but if everything is okay in the relationship than maybe you should have willing sex with him more and kiss your husband and stop acting like a damn prude
Reply:Well, I am not in your position but I would not put up with it. Life is to short to be having bad sex. If you can%26#039;t talk with him and have him consistently work on the sex, its never going to change. I don%26#039;t think if his problem is being a minute man that you can fix that. The whole thing of him thinking that he can just throw you down and take it is cr**. I would really not be having that. Sex is supposed to be something special that bonds you, not some horrifying act by some guy that behaves like he has the right to throw you down and do what he wants with you. You should try talking with him, with the understanding that it is not acceptable to you, I would even think about finding somewhere else to stay or asking him to go stay somewhere else. Good luck to you...
Reply:stop having sex with until he does it your way. talking is a good place to start, let him know that it does not feel good, but you would like it to. tell him to lay back and you will take care of everything.

OK, can you put yourselves in my shoes and tell me what you would do?
Ok, I am from Sacramento which is the capitol of California and a big city. I recently moved and have been living in a town for about 10 and a half months. This is a very small town up on the foothills, and is close to Yosemite National Park. 97% of the population is white. Some of them are racists. My mother runs a motel in the middle of this town, there is a back creek behind the motel. I like to take both of our dogs there. We have neighbours next door in a small red house. They were drinking last night and they were all at least 30. My dog goes over to the fence and their dog starts barking. He kept saying %26quot;kill kill%26quot; so I came around and stared at him and he was still saying that. So I said fu** yo dog. He didn%26#039;t say anything so I took my dog back, then all the sudden he got up and said what my problem was. I told him it was his redneck a** . He said something about me going back to where I came from, and said %26quot;don%26#039;t make me climb that fence%26quot;. So I stood there and told him to do
OK, can you put yourselves in my shoes and tell me what you would do?

Sole inserts for shoes?
I work in a huge warehouse, where I do nothing but walk around the whole place and climb ladders for at least 8 hours a day, and my feet hate me. (thank god Im so spoiled by mom that when I see her she%26#039;ll give me a massage :P)I%26#039;m going to buy some of those soles inserts, but I know some of em really suck and dont really do anything. Any of you guys that use them recommend a brand?
Sole inserts for shoes?
try some of the dr sholes ones .............or you can try different shoes. jordans have great cushioning. like the 22s have ips(indepentdant podular suspension) and you can switch the encapsulated air pod at the heel to double stacked zoom air or the encapsulated air or if ure on a budget go to ebay and buy some old jays. they work jus fine the zoom air bags still work like the 3,4,5,6,7,8,10,11,12,13,14, all work if you can find some old ones for work on ebay(the zoom air bags where introduced in the 12s so if you get anything before the 12 u%26#039;ll probably get a different type of air ) email me for my top picks
Reply:glad i could help......and if you can find some old jordan 19s get them. they have the double stacked zoom air heel unit and they have some memory foam for a more custom fit(in ebay they are cheap but i doubt they will have your size) Report It
Reply:I%26#039;d skip the inserts and look at Kalso %26quot;earth shoes%26quot;.
They have a unique sole and feel. I%26#039;ve worn them for years on warehouse floors, and they are most comfortable. No this is not an ad!
Reply:go to a foot doctor...(orthontics)...they make custom ones moulded to your feet.............they last a few years...........your feet will thankyou when your older...........

Who makes the best long distance walking shoes?
Long distance as in 200+ miles backbacking adventure, with some road and trail climbing, but mostly flat, quite a bit pavement too.
Who makes the best long distance walking shoes?
for walking shoes New Balance rated best by Consumer Reports and other reviews. Hikeing boots store brands from Eastern Mt Sports and LL bean are the best.
Reply:I am an avid hiker and I would recommend taking a walking shoe and a pair of hiking boots. You will want the walking shoes for the paved portion and the boots for the trail. As far as walking shoes I wear Asics they have a wide variety and are very comfortable.

When using platform pedals can do u use the biking shoes without the pedals or regular running shoes?
dont feel comfortable climbing steep hills with them
When using platform pedals can do u use the biking shoes without the pedals or regular running shoes?
With platform pedals, you can use just about any shoe you want. In the past I%26#039;ve bought %26quot;cycling shoes%26quot; that weren%26#039;t much different from an ordinary athletic shoe. The only cycling specific feature, other than the brand name, might have been a tread pattern that marginally helped flipping a platform pedal over to get the toe clip up into the air. I have had very good luck with a fairly stiff soled New Balance athletic shoe.
Some cycling specific shoes designed for clipless pedals have soles that are fairly reasonable for walking in terms of flex and traction. You just have to shop around.

I am just getting into indoor rock climbing and I would like to ask for some gear for Christmas.?
Does anyone know of a set, on-line, that includes the shoes, harness, belay device, etc. all in one set for a reasonable price?
I am just getting into indoor rock climbing and I would like to ask for some gear for Christmas.?
There are one or two beginners kit%26#039;s out there - but I wouldn%26#039;t recommend them. The most important thing you are going to buy is climbing shoes. You need to go to a outdoor, climbing, or mountaineering store and try on a lot of pairs and get the right fit. You will also need to get a harness, a chalk bag (and chalk), a locking carabineer and a belay device. Black Diamond is a good company that makes everything except the shoes. Petzel is also a good choice. For shoes pick the smallest and tightest ones you can wear for 30 minutes or an hour.

Am new to rock climbing, what specific tools/equipments do i need for a beginner like me.?
What kind of shoes do I need to buy to start with the sport?
Am new to rock climbing, what specific tools/equipments do i need for a beginner like me.?
For beginners, climbing shoes are a good investment as are chalk bags and a comfortable harness. Before anything, however, I%26#039;d highly recommend taking some climbing classes so that you know how to safely climb (i.e., tie in, belay, climb, etc.).
Happy climbing!
Reply:you don%26#039;t need any specific shoes for rockclimbing.
as long as the grip underneath isn%26#039;t worn out.
Reply:mad rocks are very comfortable- they were my first pair. I was able to get my on sale for only $50!! :) Shoes, harness, chalk and bag. That is enough to get you started. I would recommend that you take some lessons from you local gym first. Some gyms will let you borrow shoes and harness if you become a member- some still charge for rentals even if you are a member- ask. I think that trying it out for a month or two before you start dropping the bucks is a good idea. (you don%26#039;t want to buy 200$ in gear and then decided that you are afraid of heights!)
Reply:Rock climbing is the best sport, you%26#039;ll have fun... anyway... Buying rock shoes is very important. You should go to a G.I Joe%26#039;s or an R.E.I store, and then go to the liming section, (like my step by step instruction?). The person there will most likely try to sell you the most expensive brand, but I like the brands evolve, mad rock, or 5.10. They are all relatively inexpensive. If you really want to splurge La Sportiva is really nice. For beginners, you want your toe to be touching the end of the shoe. Climbing shoes are not meant to be comfortable, they help you grip to the rock, and are really essential to climbing! Next you will want a harness, I would recommend black diamond, they have good ones. And if you are climbing indoors, you will need nothing else, they will supply the ropes and the belay devices, but if you are climbing outside, you will want to purchase a rope, ($$) and some quick draws ($) and a belay device ($). I would recommend starting indoors, and taking some classes, it is hard to explain stuff over the internet, and the classes aren%26#039;t really all that expensive. It is imperative that you stay safe while climbing, it is a dangerous sport, but well worth the risk! Hope that this helped, good luck!

Static equilibrium?
a climber with a weight of 605.0 N is held by a belay rope connected to her climbing harness and belay device; the force of the rope on her has a line of action through her center of mass. draw an origin in the middle of the climber right where the cable wire touches her waist. make the y axis go straight up in the air vertically and make the x axis level with the horizonal
Positive y goes straight up in the air and positive x goes off to the right.
draw a free body diagram which is a dot with four arrows extending from the dot. One arrow labled F which stands for wall friction goes from the dot straight up along the +y axis.
arrow number 2 labled N which stands for wall normal goes from the dot straight to the right in the plus x direction
arrow 3 goes from the dot straight down towards the ground along the -y direction and its lable is W which stands for %26#039;weight%26#039;
and then there is arrow number 4 the last arrow. it is at an angle. the previous 3 arrows were not at angles they were flush with an axis and needed no angle.
draw arrow 4 from the dot (which is the origin) upward and off towards the left so that it lies in quadrant four. this arrow is drawn parallel with the direction of the cable that holds the climber. all four arrows are straight lines, not curvy.
do the sum of the forces in the x axis and get an equation
N=Tsin27.5
do the sum in the y axis and get an equation
F+ Tcos(27.5)= (629.8)(98)
do the sum of torques about the origin and get an equation
Fsin(35)=Ncos(35)
do some algebra and solve for N and T and F. three equation and only 3 unknowns. when you get N go back to the sum in the y axis. instead of F+Tcos27.5=(629.8)(9.8)
say: uN + Tcos27.5=(629.8)(9.8) and solve for u.

Help with physics problem please?
draw an origin in the middle of the climber right where the cable wire touches her waist. make the y axis go straight up in the air vertically and make the x axis level with the horizonal
Positive y goes straight up in the air and positive x goes off to the right.
draw a free body diagram which is a dot with four arrows extending from the dot. One arrow labled F which stands for wall friction goes from the dot straight up along the +y axis.
arrow number 2 labled N which stands for wall normal goes from the dot straight to the right in the plus x direction
arrow 3 goes from the dot straight down towards the ground along the -y direction and its lable is W which stands for %26#039;weight%26#039;
and then there is arrow number 4 the last arrow. it is at an angle. the previous 3 arrows were not at angles they were flush with an axis and needed no angle.
draw arrow 4 from the dot (which is the origin) upward and off towards the left so that it lies in quadrant four. this arrow is drawn parallel with the direction of the cable that holds the climber. all four arrows are straight lines, not curvy.
do the sum of the forces in the x axis and get an equation
N=Tsin27.5
do the sum in the y axis and get an equation
F+ Tcos(27.5)= (629.8)(98)
do the sum of torques about the origin and get an equation
Fsin(35)=Ncos(35)
do some algebra and solve for N and T and F. three equation and only 3 unknowns. when you get N go back to the sum in the y axis. instead of F+Tcos27.5=(629.8)(9.8)
say: uN + Tcos27.5=(629.8)(9.8) and solve for u.
Reply:Multipy the angles, then divide by the massxaccerleration

Where can I find surfboard ratings/reviews?
I%26#039;m trying to find surfboard ratings/reviews. For example, %26#039;Climbing Magazine%26#039; and %26#039;Rock and Ice Magazine%26#039; both review and give their Editor%26#039;s Choice to the best gear like climbing shoes. %26#039;Transworld Snowboarding%26#039; and %26#039;Future Snowboarding%26#039; rank their top selections for snowboards for each year. Is there something equivalent for surfboards? Thanks.
Where can I find surfboard ratings/reviews?
Surfer Magazine has a web site that can get you that information. Try this http://www.surfingthemag.com/index.html it should be some help.
Reply:i personally like to go here. http://www.ynotboard.com they don%26#039;t have many reviews yet but they get added all the time. Report It
Reply:its really hard to find reviews on specific boards because each board is unique. the best thing to do is look at what the manufacturer intended the board for. one thing ive done is look up the different qualities of areas of the board, for example the tail. if i want a board for steeper surf i find a board with a round tail or thumb tail (for really steep hollow stuff you want a pin tail, but we dont get that too often on the gulf). if i want a board for smaller mushy surf i go with a larger tail shape like a fish or bat tail. next follow the same logic for rails, concave, rocker, fin set up etc. if all else fails ask your bros what they ride and try some of their boards.
the one thing i have found reviews on is fins, which can really effect the performance of a board. if you dont like how a boar is riding try some different fins (almost all boards have some sort of interchangeable fin system now instead of glass ons). pick some fins that will suit your surfing style, weight, and surf your riding in. for example dont throw on huge fins if you weigh 120 lbs and are riding waist high garbage, your board will never turn. on the same not if you weigh 200 lbs and are dropping into double overhead bombs you want a large fin so you dont slide all the way down the face. hope this helps
ps ask the guy at your local surf shop, they usually know what type of boards work best at your local break
Reply:This sounds wierd because I%26#039;m a woman, but men%26#039;s Journal usually has good shortboard reviews, pretty right on with their ratings too.
Reply:Screw ratings. Just ask around in the lineup (don%26#039;t ask the kooks of course). Most people will gladly give you an honest opinion of their board. Call the shaper - tell him what you%26#039;re looking for and ask to borrow a demo. All shapers have at least a couple of demo%26#039;s you can borrow. Then you%26#039;ll have any idea of what works for YOU.
Reply:I have never seen actual ratings for boars. I%26#039;ve seen some performance description but since everyone surfs different it%26#039;s hard to rate. Also, unless your dealing with something like surftechs or popouts no two boards are gonna be exactly the same.
Reply:I have seen surfboard ratings, but I don%26#039;t believe in them. All boards are not created equal, unless they are sleazy, mass produced pop-outs. Surfboards, even ones made from templates, that are hand crafted are all individuals. I would be skeptical of any review, except the reviews that knock the pieces of crap that are being mass produced (whether in China, Europe or USA). To get a REAL review, go to a local surf shop (surf shop, not a bathing suit store that sells surfboards) and talk to real surfers about what is the right board for the local break. Many (all of the %26#039;good%26#039; ones) of the big names, still hand shape and glass their sticks with love. and craftsmanship

How can I know if my pinky toe is broken without getting it x-rayed and what could happen if its not tened to?
1 month ago I injured my pinky toe when i slammed them into the frame of a door. The toe hurt a LOT for a day or two, but then felt fine, on and off for a month or so. About a week ago I was wearing those really tight climbing shoes for climbing, and since then the toe has had a good deal of pain when I put pressure on it. I%26#039;ve never had issues with those shoes before, and I%26#039;m worried that the toe may be broken. What negative effects could there be if I don%26#039;t get a broken toe tended to?
How can I know if my pinky toe is broken without getting it x-rayed and what could happen if its not tened to?
We don%26#039;t do anything with a broken toe. Sometimes we will tape it to the one next to it.
It will heal. It may not line up right, It may hurt while you where shoes. But there is no other intervention.
If it goes on for a long time, it could generate a bunion. You%26#039;d need to see a podiatrist for this.

Reply:there isn%26#039;t anything a doctor will do for a broken toe, either, so it doesn%26#039;t really pay to see a doc for the toe. Take some ibuprophen and if it feels better, you could try taping it to the toe next to it, and lay off the tight shoes. Wear supportive athletic shoes with lots of room in the toe. The pain will go away as the toe heals on its own.

Does anyone own a pair of scarpa vision rock boots?
I%26#039;m just considering buying some scarpa vision climbing shoes, but because of a special deal i%26#039;ve got on, i have to order them without trying them on. i%26#039;m usually a size ten in normal shoes, and the only pair of climbing shoes i%26#039;ve had before - red chili conona - were also a size ten, so i was wondering anyone had any recommendations with these as to what size to get?
Does anyone own a pair of scarpa vision rock boots?
Scarpa vision boots are great to wear, but its is taking a big risk buying clI%26#039;mbing boots without trying them on,as im sure you are aware of who different makes change in their sizing, however i do know that these aren%26#039;t as tight a fitting boots as the red chilli%26#039;s so i would go for the next size up, just to be sure. Maybe if there was somewhere you could try them on and then buy the ones in the deal after wards
Reply:I don%26#039;t think I%26#039;ve worn the Scarpa vision, but I tried on a pair of a friends Scarpa shoes before, with the downpointed toe, I think they were the Scarpa Booster. And when I stood up they nearly broke my feet. Some online stores have a returns policy with their footwear that if you try it on and it doesn%26#039;t fit you can return it for another size with no cost. Check the sites ts and cs.

Socks or not?
I am going rock climbing for my b-day and I was planning on getting shoes because I love to climb but didn%26#039;t know that there was a gym about 20 minutes from my house but I am wondering if you prefer to wear socks with your rock climbing shoes or not...
Socks or not?
Most rock climbing shoes I%26#039;ve tried were pretty tight, but I would still wear a pair of socks, especially if you rent the shoes.

Can you pick up worms on your shoes and transfer them to your cat?
I went to the shelter today to donate some food, kitten city, wish I could take them all home, I went in a room full of kittens, some of them had worms I was told, they climbed up my pants. I stopped by my moms and changed my pants just in case something can transfer like that, and I washed my hands, but I forgot to remove my shoes before I came in and walked all over my apartment, can you transfer worms like that to your cat?
Can you pick up worms on your shoes and transfer them to your cat?
I will tell you what I will do. My daughter is a Zoologist and has two cats herself. She works at a zoo. I am going to send an E-mail to her and ask this same question. It may take her a day or so to get back to me, but as soon as I hear I will let you know. That is very interesting question. I can%26#039;t wait to hear the answer myself. Just to be safe though I would get rid of shoes or wash them. Get back to you soon!
Reply:By the way folks, UPESKYMO%26#039;s answer, from the vet at the zoo, was that transferring eggs or worms from my shoes to the cat was unlikley, but if I was still wary to go ahead and use a dewormer as it wouldn%26#039;t hurt the cat even if it didn%26#039;t have worms. Vet at the zoo, now that%26#039;s what i call a vet. Report It
Reply:No.
Ringworm is NOT a worm. It is a fungus and people can have it too. Kids get it. You could transmit ringworm, but it is highly unlikely.
Other worms like roundworms and tapeworms can not be trasmitted by your shoes.
Reply:Yes you can. Ringworm (fungus) can be transmitted that way, too. That is why we recommend annual dewormings for even strictly indoor-only cats.

Are these Shoes ok for outdoors...?
Im worried that these sandals aren%26#039;t suitable for walking around outdoors because the bottom of it seems to be just plastic...
As you can see the same material on the top wraps around to the bottom and there is a removable sole.

Squeaky shoes? HELP!! WHAT TO DO??
have you ever bought you kids a pair of squeaky shoes? im talking about shoes that make that rubber ducky noise every step taken. i bought my 3 year old one of those and im thinking that now it was a big mistake. THEY%26#039;RE JUST SOOO SQUEEAAKY you know? like at first my wife and i thought it was pretty cute, every step made a tiny squeak (it also helped whenever we lost her in the apartment) but she also has a sleeping problem. i usually come home and plant myself on the couch for a couple of hours and sleep, but now my kid walks around everywhere and i can%26#039;t sleep at all, even climbs and walks on my back...where they%26#039;re so close to my ears (im talking 11o%26#039;clock as her bed time is 8) she can already reach her door, so even when im with my wife in bed, we hear little squeaking late at night when she wants something to drink. she wont take them off AT ALL unless she%26#039;s alone, then she just hides them. last we had them washed she cried for hours till we gave %26#039;em back. tiny feet, tiny squeaks..
Squeaky shoes? HELP!! WHAT TO DO??
no i havent had that experance yet thanks for letting me know that it gets annoying after awhile,
what ya could do is cut a small hole inthe shoe take the squeekie thing out and throw it away and sew it back up
hope that helps
Reply:next time you buy shoes, make sure they don%26#039;t squeak, and also maybe buy another pair and switch them out.

Where can i find some grippy shoes?
I like to climb and jump.... Basically so i am in the need of some grippy shoes they sue in like the circus... any ideas
Where can i find some grippy shoes?
climbing shoes are usually made with stealth rubber at the bottom. it is super clingy. some approach shoes have the same stuff for soles. i would buy a climbing mag and see if they have any adds for grippy shoes.
be warned-the rubber on the bottoms of these shoes can make your feet uncomfortably warm.

What shoes are these???
I saw some shoes on a documentary and they had a certain kind of rubber on them that could let you climb up walls, trees, etc.. What kind of rubber is it and where can I buy some of these shoes???
What shoes are these???
The rubber is called stealth rubber and most rock climbing supply stores will have it.
Reply:There are several brands of shoes that are made for rock-climbing that may be the shoes you are referring to. The only name I can recall is Fire (pronounced Fee-Ray). The sole is a high-friction type of rubber, allowing for better grip on hard surfaces. As far as details about the rubber, I don%26#039;t know. Maybe try an outdoor sports equipment dealer for more on these shoes.

Climbing Goatfell on the Isle of Arran?
I%26#039;d like to climb Goatfell and wondered if anyone could tell me what type of eqipment I%26#039;d require...i.e. quality of walking shoes/boots. Also if anyone has anyother information I%26#039;d appreciate it. Thanks x
Climbing Goatfell on the Isle of Arran?
Just get some sturdy shoes I went up in trainers. You don%26#039;t really need anything special, but depends how confident you are with walking. Give yourself a day to do it and take up some lunch. If you want to get back to main land be sure to check the ferry times or take a tent.
Reply:Just a good pair of hiking boots and a waterproof jacket and fleece in case it gets wet and cold. And take some food and drink. Best boot brands are Meindl and Raichle but make sure to choose one that fits you well (spend a lot of time find the right one as its the difference between a good hike and a bad one!) and wear them in before you do your long hike!

What are you supposed to wear when rock climbing?
i%26#039;ve never rock climbed and i dunno what to wear like should i wear tennis shoes, is jewelry okay, shorts or pants, that kind of thing. it is indoors
What are you supposed to wear when rock climbing?
Most rock gyms rent shoes, harnesses, and chalk bags so don%26#039;t worry about those items. (Remember to wear/bring socks.)
Not sure what types of jewelry you%26#039;re referring to but ones close to your body (i.e., earrings with studs/necklaces close to the neck/rings without settings) should be okay.
As for pants, a comfortable pair (preferably cargo-type shorts -- longer and roomier) are okay. If you%26#039;ll be in a harness, don%26#039;t wear sweat pants (long or short) -- especially if you%26#039;re modest. Also popular are long, looser canvas fabric pants.
Have fun and happy climbing!
Reply:No jewlery. Other than that, you can wear anything that%26#039;s comfortable and allows your limbs a full, unrestricted, range of movement. Keep in mind that if it%26#039;s hot outside, it will probably be even hotter in the gym. 3/4 length pants are popular because they protect your knees from scratches.
For others, it%26#039;s all about showing off their bodies, as if they were at the beach! I always thought climbing is a good way to put hair on your chest, so to me shaving my chest might be counterproductive, but that%26#039;s just me, lol.
Reply:Less worries in indoor climbing. You can rent your required gadgets except socks and clothing. Use rock climbing shoes. Short pants will facilitate your movements. Dont forget your gloves. No dangling jewelries. Remove your ring and wrist watch.
Have great fun!!!
Reply:Think of it like yoga. Wear comfortable loose fitting clothes. I would suggest yoga pants, or shorts but you might bang your shins up a bit. Wear socks as you will probably be renting climbing shoes with your harness, and everyone wears those shoes as well. When you get your own shoes that are not rented socks are no longer recommended. For the shoes you wear into the gym I would suggest something that gets on and off as easily as possible, loose tennis shoes or slippers. I use a pair of converse slip ons. The shoes you rent should be very tight right on the borderline of painful. You should not be able to wear them for more then 30 minutes at a time without feeling your toes begin to go numb. If you are comfortable standing in them then they are probably too loose.
Reply:The best footwear that you can wear besides rock climbing shoes is tennis shoes. Climbing shoes would help you climb better and you can rent them for about $5 at the rock gym. As for clothing, wear something that you would exercise in. Don%26#039;t wear shorts that are too short. Capris or pants would be best. Don%26#039;t wear jewelry that would get in your way: little earrings are ok just don%26#039;t wear big ones, and don%26#039;t wear rings, but it%26#039;s best if you don%26#039;t wear any jewelry at all. You will also need a harness and chalk, and belay device but you don%26#039;t need it if you%26#039;re the one climbing. Check out http://iclimblikeagirl.blogspot.com/2007...
this blog explains it really well.

*update* wearing socks with your rock shoes is entirely up to you my friend, however socks can slip in the shoe, and you%26#039;ll never get the same feel for the footholds wearing socks.

Check out http://iclimblikeagirl.blogspot.com/2007...
this blog explains it really well.

wearing shoes would be more sensible. when we talk about shoes remember, they should be the types that are easy, comfortable, provide you adequate support as you%26#039;ll either climbing up /down. better to stay away from formal styles. sports ones or even casual ones which meet the criteria would be better. chappals may be ok for certain people but not 4 everyone. also some people do it barefoot, but will u be comfortable?

Rock Climbing Help?
I have started to climb indoors and can climb 5.10s. I have a somewhat cheap pair of shoes and a harness as well as a caribeaner. I live in Ontario, Canada. Is there any way I can climb outdoors with a trainer outdoor person...maybe for an hour or a day....and if so where?

Reply:Best bet is to ask people at your gym. You can also usually hire guides for trips to most of the bigger climbing destinations. Also check out rockclimbing.com for some tips on where to climb. But, an hour a day probably won%26#039;t be enough when you%26#039;re going out - unless it%26#039;s bouldering nearby, but even then... expect half to full day outings.
Reply:Do you any co op camping stores like REI in your neck of the woods? Or anything similar. Go there and look for bulletin boards where people post messages. Or ask employee%26#039;s. Good luck, and make sure you come out west and climb in Yosemite!

Shoes for sand?
My kids daycare has an awesome playground, with a sand bottom. Since they%26#039;re also climbing alot, wasnt going to do sandals. So looking for tennie recommendations? I was thinking maybe those water tennies, since they%26#039;ll often play with water/mud/castles in there too, otherwise they%26#039;re shoes might take forever to dry? But then again, lots of sand could get in those little holes. Any thoughts?
Shoes for sand?
Try Crocs.
They should be light enough to stay on %26quot;top%26quot; of the sand, as opposed to %26quot;sinking%26quot; which should make it easier to walk and they have little %26quot;holes%26quot; in them and the sand could come out easily when he%26#039;s done playing.
Good Luck!
Reply:Get a pair of Crocs. They are a bit pricey, but worth it. They are good in water, sand, mud, pavement, and very cool (feet do not sweat). Plus, there are fun colours and you can decorate them! They dry well (toss them in the sun for an hour or so and TA DA!), float in water (mine fell off while walking in a river and floated) and can be soaked and get as dirty as you want. They are very simple to clean. Also, they are extremely comfortable to wear.
Reply:Another vote for Crocs! They%26#039;re sturdier than normal sandals and stay on the kids%26#039; feet when they%26#039;re climbing. Sand will get into the holes ... but a great deal of it will fall right back out again. (ANY shoe, even tennies, will pick up sand.) Crocs wash off and dry quickly, and are incredibly durable. I send my granddaughter out to her sandbox in %26#039;em. They beat the heck out of last generation%26#039;s %26quot;jellies%26quot;, that%26#039;s for sure.
Reply:I would have to agree with the others go for Crocs. I just got my daughters each a pair and they love them! They are easy to clean and easy to take on and off. Can be worn with socks or no socks. They are just easy!
Reply:You should try water shoes. A lot of places sell them like any kids shoe stores or childrens place store has them online or in store. They%26#039;re great for water and sand areas.

What are the best rock climbing brands?
i am starting up seriously climbing at the club. i dont wanna pay for rentals and im looking for a harness/shoes. i want good ones... but want it to be a bang for my buck.
What are the best rock climbing brands?
Fortunately, the climbing industry has matured to the point where there are lots of superb products from many very respectable brands. Unfortunately, the diversity of the %26quot;sport%26quot; and the resulting specialization of the equipment has resulted in a bewildering array of choices.
Talk with as many local climbers as possible, especially those with the same climbing interests as you, and get their advice and reasoning. Some climbing magazines have annual %26quot;gear guide%26quot; issues that typically provide sound explanations and comparisons.
What you buy will depend upon:
1) What fits your body (harness, shoes, packs)
2) Your personal preferences (activities, style, experience)
3) The characteristics of your climbing environment (rock, weather, terrain)
4) What best complements the other gear that you and your partners already have
Reply:rei has good stuff. petzl and black diamond are good.
check REI Outlet store , Campmor, and Sierratradingpost.com for good prices. I like New England ropes.
good luck.
Reply:You should find very good equipment at R.E.I.

What is the best way to get my mini schnauzer to STOP CHEWING MY SHOES?
I have tried to be really good about not leaving shoes around but he has jumped up on things nad climbed under the bed to get my shoes. He doesn%26#039;t chew my husband%26#039;s shoes (which are all over the house). He has plenty of chew toys and we give him carrots to help with teething. I have tried the %26quot;bait and switch%26quot; but it doesn%26#039;t work. The moment he catches me slipping...i have lost another pair of shoes.
Do they ever just grow out of it? I have lost 6 pairs...
What is the best way to get my mini schnauzer to STOP CHEWING MY SHOES?
You must correct the dog when you catch him in the act and use a correction that has meaning. Then give the dog what he is allowed to chew on and praise him for chewing it.
Reply:Easy , on the every time it chews your shoes , use the same shoes to give it a little slap on the face . Do it every time , and i find out that it always works when it knows the pain . I%26#039;m not joking.
Reply:YOU%26#039;RE the problem,NOT the dog!
PICK UP your STUFF %26amp;/or CONFINE the DOG!!
Reply:kick him really hard wearing one of the shoes that he just chewed. point to the chewed part and tell him that what he did was bad. say this in a commanding voice. instantly stopped.
Reply:tabasco sauce!! Put a little on the soals of your shoes.
Reply:LET HIM KNOW HE IS DOING SOMETHING BAD AND SCOLD HIM. YOU MIGHT JUST WANT TO PUT YOUR SHOES UP.
Reply:There is a spray called Bitter Apple, that is a chew repelent. The bitter taste will encourage your dog not to chew your shoes and anything else you spray it on. You can find %26quot;Bitter Apple%26quot; spray at any local pet store. Good Luck
Reply:puppys chew - thats what they do and the smellier the more they like to chew - so shoes are naturally a good choice
chew toys - they need 3 textures - hard - nylabone type
medium - rubber kong type
soft - stuffed animal type
you can encourgage chewing on kong type by filling them with peanut butter or dog food
you can buy sprays that deter chewing, such as BITTER APPLE SPRAY
not all dogs outgrow it - but usually they chew less and less over time
Reply:Never give the dog an item of YOUR clothing to play with. Put your shoes away!!! Putting a muzzle on them after they chew (for a while) can also work.
Reply:Buy a choke collar and give a correction every time he even looks at it. As soon as he turns his back on it then he gave in!
Reply:Tough one...maybe sprinkle an old pair with cayenne and leave them out so she WILL chew....I think after a few minutes she%26#039;ll stop....Is he a puppy? Maybe new teeth coming in...maybe a tooth infection? I don%26#039;t know....Call The Dog Whisperer!
Reply:Bitter Apple spray works well. After a taste of that nasty stuff, the chewing will stop. Just spray it on things that you don%26#039;t want him to chew on. I have stopped my dogs from chewing on furniture and shoes that way.

Best place to buy climbing gear?
after going to the rock climbing gym on campus and spending $5 for gear and admission, i%26#039;ve decided to bite the bullet and buy my own gear.

if not, is there any online store that you guys trust?
thanks!
Best place to buy climbing gear?
I think the best deals can be found online. Just google %26quot;rock climbing gear%26quot; and you will find literaly hundreds of online retailers. Many offer beginner packages that include a harness, a belay device, shoes, and a chalk bag, (or a combination of these things) for a reduced price. I have bought a lot of stuff from %26quot;Gearexpress.com%26quot; and found them to be prompt, accurate, as well as competatively priced.

Climbing grear help?
i have been climbing rocks from age 7. never with gear, and never high enough to kill me, but last year I scared myself a few times in Vail. So i have decided to take a begging rock climbing class at the college to learn how to use the equipment. Question is... should i go buy anything before i know what all the expesive pieces of meatal do? or shoes and harness?
know any good places to start vertical ascencion in breckenridge, CO? thx
Climbing grear help?
No dont get any gear before the class. I say this for a couple of reasons. Once you start climbing high and start using proper gear the sport might not interest you and then you will be stuck with a bunch of exspensive climbing gear that is sometimes hard to sell once its used. Also i would suggest getting more knowledge about what your climbing and when Climbing gear can be very very specific whats perfect for this climb could be useless on another. The only two things i would recommend getting would be a chalk bag and chalk and a good pair of rock climbing shoes. If you really hate climbing then the shoes could be sold and that chalk and chalk bag are really cheap. make sure to buy a comfortable shoe that fits very snug without socks on. If its all leather then it will stretch so buy the half size down to the one that feels great in the store. Yes it will be tight in the begining but it will stretch into the perfect shoe in no time. If you do just love the sport then start your gear aquiring process you will find that it is usually an ongoing thing. I have yet to meet a climber who is contect with the amount of gear he or she owns. there is always something smaller stronger lighter better. Good luck
Reply:I would suggest starting with only these these pieces of gear:
Rock shoes (Sportiva, 5.10, Boreal)
Harness (Black Diamond, Petzl, Singing Rock)
Locking Carabiner (one large carabiner for belaying)
ATC / Belay device (Black Diamond)
Helmet (Petzl - or you can temp use a skateboard helmet)
During the class, you will use other%26#039;s gear and figure out what you like. Some types of gear are better for different kinds of climbing (sport, trad, etc) and once you figure out what kind of climbing you want to do you will better know what kind of gear to buy.

Indoor Rock Climbing Clothes?
I did look this up already but I had another question that I can%26#039;t find....
First off...is it cool to wear jeans? Or atleast comfortable jeans (Loose, bigish)....big t-shirt, or is that a no no?
Ok, I%26#039;ve always wondered if wearing converse to rock climbing is a bad idea? My friend says they don%26#039;t have enough grip, yet in only one case online did I find a guy that says he always uses converse in outdoor rock climbing. Of course I%26#039;m doing it indoor....but still. Is it all on preference?
So, should I wear a big t-shirt? Loose fitting jeans? Or would it be better to wear a big shirt over some short pants, and you rent shoes there....or are tighter clothes better? Then again is it all in preference?
First time and I want to make it a life habit type of thing....and do outdoor climbing eventually. Of course I need to make sure I like it in the first place. Just asking, I%26#039;m abit nervous cause I fear heights.....Wish me luck!
Indoor Rock Climbing Clothes?
i personally wear leggings when i climb. I dont like baggy pants b/c ppl can see up under them sometimes when ur kinda high up. I wear a semi baggy tee shirt and leggings or bermuda shorrts and a long fitting tee shirt. Shoes? i wear my climbing shoes but before i had them i DEFINITLY rented shoes. Although, (yes i kno gross) other ppl wore them they help a LOT when ur climbing (using toes) .... hoppe you have fun and get over the fear of heights!! best of luck

oh hair? as long as its NOT in your face- i put half of my medium length hair up-- SOMETIMES my hair gets annoying on ym neck but as long as bangs are NOT in my face its fine-- for me any ways.
Reply:As far as the hair thing goes - I would pull it back. It isn%26#039;t as important, but having your hair flying around can be really annoying.
Jeans? well thats up to you. Personally I wear loose shorts that don%26#039;t restrict my movement (i find even loose jeans do restrict movement). Maybe it%26#039;s just me, but whenever I wear a pair of jeans rock climbing i tend to rip them or damage them in some way - just keep that in mind. As far as the shirt? wear whatever is comfortable. You don%26#039;t want it to be so baggy that it hangs off of you, but you don%26#039;t want it to restrict movement either. Just wear what you find comfortable.
Footwear - you will probably want to invest in a pair of rock climbing shoes. Look on SierraTradingPost.com, Amazon.com and other websites - shop around, a good pair will cost $70 or more, but sometimes you get lucky and find a pair for $40. I would personally recommend Five.Ten Coyote%26#039;s for a first pair, but that%26#039;s just me. Also, you will want to try a few pairs out before buying - size is simply relative, you really need to find a pair that you find comfortable and easy to use. Take your time shopping. You don%26#039;t want a pair of converse because they will rip apart, don%26#039;t give you the support you need, and have little friction.
Outdoor climbing is similar - you want to be comfortable, but also warm. If its a cold morning I would reccomend spandex pants and a warm long sleved shirt.
And as far as the fear of heights? Almost everyone has a fear at some point. Just push yourself to your limit, and keep trying to improve. It%26#039;s not a race - just go with whatever you are comfortable with. Good Luck!
Reply:Actually, I like to climb in jeans, but outdoors. Roll them up till they%26#039;re almost at your knees. Whatever you wear, it must allow you a full range motion. Don%26#039;t wear a baggy shirt, it will get in the way. Put you hair back, but don%26#039;t worry about it too much for indoor climbing. Just keep it away from the belay device.
Reply:Like somebody said, rock climbers are very relaxed people, doesn%26#039;t matter what you wear... just have fun!
Jeans.. .well it is cool to wear jeans... if you%26#039;d like. Personally I can%26#039;t climb in jeans. In fact I need to be wearing shorts to climb (just a habit/perference), and find it werid to climb otherwise. There are those who boulder in jeans, but again it%26#039;s up to your personal preference. Remember you want to be able to move a flex, so something like super tight jeans might not be the best plan, but losoe ones can be great!
T-Shirts- I perfer a baggy shirt, because I always feel like if I wear a tighter work outtop, then my boobs are hanging out when I make a tough move. So for me, I wear a work out top (to hold everything in place) under, and then a loose baggy shirt over top to cover up.
As for shoes- If you are looking at doing climb regularly I highly recommend you go buy your own pair of shoes. The gym shoes (I used gym shoes for about two months), are gross (even though most gyms spray them) and you don%26#039;t always get the same pair everytime, meaning your first few climbs are spent getting adjusted to the shoes again. It does take some time to break in a new pair of shoes, but it is definatly worth it! I love my shoes!
Hair- Personally I tie mine back.. I don%26#039;t want it getting caught in my ATC or in the quick draws.. I generally ponytail it, or even braid it... however I feel for the day... it depends, but have fun with it.
Have fun while you are climbing and I wish you the best of luck!
Reply:Jeans are grand as long as they don%26#039;t inhibit you when you go to stretch to your limit. They stop you from scraping your knees agains the wall for one thing. I%26#039;d personally wear a pair of shorts or a pair of nice comfy tracksuit bottoms, but you can climb in jeans no bother. It is all preferance and chances are no one will care.
Top? Wear somthing that will allow sweat to get away like you would doing any other exercise, a polyester t-shirt would do the job.
And if you don%26#039;t have your own rock shoes and you can rent them do, but ya know, wear a pair of thin socks to give your feet some kind of barrier. Rock shoes are important because they give your foot much more rigidity by curling up your toes at the front and curving them towards the big toe, also the grip is made of a special rubber that give much more friction on rock.
Enjoy.
Reply:I%26#039;ve just recently started climbing. I don%26#039;t suggest you wear jeans, because you%26#039;ll have to do a lot of different stuff with your legs and jeans can pretty much limit your things. When I climb, I wear shorts or anything that won%26#039;t hold me back. The best thing for me to wear is shorts with t-shirts. I also try to tie my hair back, so it won%26#039;t get in my face, especially if you want to start bouldering (that%26#039;ll take time though).
But to be honest, NO ONE is going to care what you wear. So just be comfortable. Heck, I would wear pajamas to climb, but the pants wouldn%26#039;t be as good as shorts.
And to climb, YOU NEED TO WEAR CLIMBING SHOES! I don%26#039;t care what anyone says, but climbing shoes is for your own safety and it%26#039;s how you%26#039;re supposed to do it. They usually have shoe rentals that are cheap, but if you want it to be a lifelong thing, try out some of the shoes first and then if you find a brand you like, buy it. It%26#039;s costly, but it will wear out for years, especially if you decide to climb inside. It mostly starts tearing outside.
I was also afraid of heights. But there are big pads that are like big pillows. There%26#039;s no way that you can hurt yourself, unless you go to a really crappy gym that%26#039;s not padded. I suggest you climb as high as you feel comfortable and just jump down. Don%26#039;t even try climbing down..just jump. Most people around you will spot you if you climb in areas that need to be spotted on (don%26#039;t worry, they%26#039;ll have signs that say it).
Just have fun. Don%26#039;t worry about anything. Climbing is about having fun :)
Reply:Keep it simple, a pair of sweats or shorts, %26amp; a comfy t-shirt will do just fine... You dont want to restrict your movement w/ your clothing, %26amp; actual climbing shoes make a worlds difference over a set of converse

Reply:Hey, chill! Rock climbers are the most relaxed, friendly people that you will meet, and we always give good advice! Anyways, just take a deep breath, everything is good.
Jeans: I personally wouldn%26#039;t wear jeans, rock climbing involves flexibility and movement, and jeans don%26#039;t allow that. Instead I wear sports pants, or capris, that are tight fitting, almost like spandex. There is also a climbing outfitter, %26#039;Prana%26#039;, that supplies some great climbing clothes, they are carried at GI Joes, or your local REI, I would suggest those too. Really anything stretchy works, even sweat pants, any pants that allow movement.
T-shirt: Climbing is hard, and you generally get tired and sweat, therefore, you may want a workout top. At least not a big t-shirt, they may get in the way of your climbing. I would recommend a sports bra as well.
Shoes: For any rock climbing, there are specific shoes that you can buy. Converses will not, not, not, work, your friend is right, they don%26#039;t have enough grip at all. The special rock climbing shoes fit tight to your feet, they should be small, and they help you grip to the wall easier. Trust me, ya wanna have them. They range anywhere from 40-200$, and some good brands are, %26#039;5.10%26#039;, %26#039;evolve%26#039;, %26#039;la sportiva%26#039;, %26#039;mad rock%26#039;, and those are the main ones. You can get them from GI Joes, or REI, or online, or at any sporting goods store near to you. There are also specialized climbing stores that offer you a wide variety of climbing shoes and equipment.
Hair: I would tie it back in a pony tail, since climbing is so strenuous, it is nice to not have your neck all covered in hair, trust me. It also keeps the hair out of your face, and if you need to look down to place your feet, you can actually see. :):)
Rock climbing is a great way to overcome your fear, and make a ton of new friends, like I said, us climbers are the friendliest group of people ever. Make yourself a regular at the gym, you will get better soon. Don%26#039;t let your nerves get the best of ya. And also, you can wear whatever you want, I got a friend who is better than me who climbs in skinny jeans, but I would suggest to start out with not skinny jeans, but no climber is looking at your clothes, it isn%26#039;t a fashion show, all climbers care about is that you are a happy person, and you are fun and nice. Good luck! E-mail me if you have any questions.
