I am into climbing at climbing gyms, urban enviroment and nature. I rented some shoes from my gym, and they were great. Herb rocks and other small holds supported my feet alot. I want to know if anyone could tell me of any good shoes to buy that i could order from the web soon. I need urls of the site that sells shoes and maybe specific shoes that are real nice.
Climbing shoes - Help me out?
climbing shoes need to fit snug but not uncomfortable and this is the difficult part as each shoe fits different shaped feet, I wouldn%26#039;t buy climbing shoes online for that reason, go try them on at the store and if they have someplace try them out a little or at least wear them a while to know you%26#039;ll be able to hang out in them for longer than a couple minutes, my climbing shoes are always about 1 size smaller than what I normally wear, so for me I wear a 9 %26amp; a half, so I go down to 8 %26amp; a half for climbing shoes. there is no best shoe out there, the best shoe for you is the one that fits your feet so try as many as you can, one of them will stick out as the shoe for you.

i have mad rocks and they rock! the ones you slip on are small and like slippers, it feelsl ike your not wearing shoes and is better for gripping those small little rocks or spaces.
good luck!
Reply:Don%26#039;t let anyone talk you into getting them too tight, there%26#039;s no need for it and you won%26#039;t climb well with sore feet!
Shoes I have enjoyed are: lasportiva mythos, Bufo%26#039;s (but they got trashed easily), and I%26#039;m currently using good ol%26#039; fashioned 5 10 lace-ups just like the ones at most gyms (and I love them).
Keep in mind that I%26#039;m more focused on trad (crack) climbing, so i prefer comfy lace-ups. One slipper that I%26#039;ve tried and thought were great are the Lasportiva cobra. I really liked my old lasportivas and they lasted a long time, so i would reccomend them.
Really it doesn%26#039;t matter as long as they fit! Just climb with what ya got!.
Oh yeah if you want to order online, then try them at a store first so you order the right size.
Reply:I have to agree w/ the other guy, about trying them on before you order them ... Save you some shipping time / headaches, La Sportiva makes an excellent shoe as well. I believe REI.com has some on their site
Reply:The lasts of the different brands and styles are quite different. You really should go to a couple of stores and try before you buy. Grab a copy of %26quot;Climbing Magazine%26quot; Gear Guide and give it a read. Think about the type of climbing you%26#039;ll be doing, too. Rock socks are great fro bouldering and short sports climbs, but would be hopeless on a long trad crack or a slab. The radical %26quot;toe down%26quot; styles work well in gyms and on steep (over-hanging) walls, but are painful and overkill on a 5.9 slab.
A stiff sole is brilliant for cracks, and stable on good edges, but no good for smeary, thin stuff where you need %26quot;feel%26quot;.
There are lots of good brands out there. I%26#039;ve always used Scarpa, because of my foot shape, but my other half uses La Sportiva on her feet.
