Is my stepdad phycho?

My parents work most of the week and so im home alone. I'l admit im kinda lazy and i do most of the house cleaning on thursday nights before they return.


Anyhow they always lock their door. See one time i went in there to watch a movie on their new widescreen tv, and i spilt cocoa all over the bed and since then they made it a big rule im not to step foot in there.





but anyhow my beds ******* tore up and ive been sleeping n the couch latley, and im scared of spiders and this big *** spider i seen on the couch. when i got something to kill it with it was gone. i figured id go sleep in their bed just for the night, seeing as i dont want a spider bite.





I know the bed wast dirty or nothing, cause mom offered to let me to let me sleep in there that morning while she was getting ready for work, but i declined.





So i smoke a ciggarete, and walk into the room. take off my shoes, turn of fthe light, and climb in the bed.

He was overreacting but if you really wanna get him back, sleep in his bed again. It would be worth it just to watch him pop his cork again. Id be laughing my @$$ off. He is psycho.
Reply:Wow. His reaction seems a bit excessive to me (unless there's something you're leaving out of the story - like did you burn a cigarette hole in their bed?) and personally - I think you should pull your mom to the side privately and tell her what was said.





Calling you the C word (I assume that was it - or even an *F*) is B.S.. Secondly, a thorough cleaning of the living room should scare your spider friend off. Besides - do you know how many spiders you've probably eaten in your lifetime? They're good protein.





And finally - if your bed is torn up and you need a new one you should have come back with - "And I am thankful for all that you've done for me. But maybe if my bed wasn't torn up and we didn't have giant *** spiders living in the living room I wouldn't have been freaked out and wanting to sleep in here to begin with." Which probably would have upset him more - but in the very least given him food for thought.





Sometimes adults (mostly men) don't always think before they speak and if they don't have kids of their own or are just men - don't stop to consider the emotional trauma what they say can cause. I don't think your step dad is psycho but my guess is he is angry with you (could be repressing it) and you two need to sit down and discuss it. I have a feeling there's more to the story. Like maybe he thinks you should have a job? If that's the case - get one. Seriously - you'll thank yourself for it later in life.





I hope you're old enough that you'll be able to move out soon. Because personally - I think if his temper is that bad and you two get along this poorly - you'd be better off on your own. It would help you both. And by all means - do a better job at cleaning and requisition some RAID.
