How can I know if my pinky toe is broken without getting it x-rayed and what could happen if its not tened to?

1 month ago I injured my pinky toe when i slammed them into the frame of a door. The toe hurt a LOT for a day or two, but then felt fine, on and off for a month or so. About a week ago I was wearing those really tight climbing shoes for climbing, and since then the toe has had a good deal of pain when I put pressure on it. I%26#039;ve never had issues with those shoes before, and I%26#039;m worried that the toe may be broken. What negative effects could there be if I don%26#039;t get a broken toe tended to?

We don%26#039;t do anything with a broken toe. Sometimes we will tape it to the one next to it.

It will heal. It may not line up right, It may hurt while you where shoes. But there is no other intervention.

If it goes on for a long time, it could generate a bunion. You%26#039;d need to see a podiatrist for this.
Reply:I`VE BR0KE EACH 0NE 0F MY PINKY T0ES, TWICE...FR0M WHAT Y0U`VE T0LD ME, I THINK IT`S FRACTURED, N0T BR0KEN....EVEN IF IT WAS, THE D0CT0R PR0BABLY W0N`T D0 ANYTHING BUT GIVE Y0U AN 0RTH0PEDIC SH0E BECAUSE IT`S SUCH A SMALL B0NE AND %26quot;IT WILL HEAL 0N ITS 0WN%26quot; (SAYS MY DOCT0R)... BUT Y0U MAY STILL WANNA CHECK IT 0UT
Reply:there isn%26#039;t anything a doctor will do for a broken toe, either, so it doesn%26#039;t really pay to see a doc for the toe. Take some ibuprophen and if it feels better, you could try taping it to the toe next to it, and lay off the tight shoes. Wear supportive athletic shoes with lots of room in the toe. The pain will go away as the toe heals on its own.
