My 15 week old kitten died suddenly. Any idea why?

I got the kitten's mother from a friend. He found it in the country and I took it in. It was small and I thought it was a kitten. Well, a couple weeks pass and we realize the kitty is pregnant. She only has 1 kitten in the litter. The kitten does well and everything is going fine until last nite at about 1 am the kitty is meowing extremley loud. I find her and her face was swollen, bubbles around her mouth and she couldn't balance herself. This cat has never left my apartment. I did waterproof a pair of shoes that night, but the vet said the shots he gave her would have opened her bronchial paths because he said her tongue was purple which indicated poor oxygen flow. He said he suspected she got poisoned somehow. We do have quite a few exotic plants around which the kitty liked to climb up and eat the leaves off of. The vet also gave her a pain pill, and two shots then said she needed to stay at least a night. He called about 3 hours later and said the cat was dead.

There are thousands and thousands and thousands of poison plants (to cats). Yes, it was probably a plant that got it. It may get the cat next. Here is a website that lists plants poisonous to animals.

Also, make sure that all of your household cleaners are out of reach to cats. And any pesticides.
Reply:This is so sad, and I am so sorry. It sounds like some sort of poisoning. Shame on whoever said shame on you. It is not your fault. Don't let idiots make you feel bad. Poor sweet baby. Give yourself time to grieve, and then get a new kitten. Keep plants out of the way. There is no way to truly know what killed the sweet baby.
Reply:Sorry to hear about your cat. ((HUGS)) It probably was the plants.
Reply:im sorry about your kitty:( but it was prolly food poisiong.. do you have ne mean neighbors that dont like cats? also anything around you that the cat can get into including the neighbors stuff it could of gotten sick most likely from some kind of fertilizer. thats what happened to my cat
Reply:You should get the vet to do an autopsy if possible! if it was a toxic reaction to a plant then it would probably show in a liver tissue test!
Reply:Obviously there could be several reasons here BUT how can a vet perform procedures to attempt to help her and after she dies not be able to give you an explanation!

Id say the vet mis diagnosed and hopefully didn't charge you w/o telling you how she died.

Point being, my finger would be pointed back at the vet and how he treated/mistreated (which is very common)

A vet is suppose to be a professional with animals and if they treat the animal it should be in a way that addresses the problem which he never defined AND after she died he should have been able to determine what exactly it was.

Its very easy for vets to over medicate especially if he knew she may have been poisoned.

I mean seriously the guy seems like somewhat of a quack.

No results of any kind after how much $$.

something wrong here.
